Comparison of iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro, Need an Upgrade?

Apple a few days ago released the iPhone 14 series, including the iPhone 14 Pro. Among the four devices released, the iPhone 14 Pro series is considered to come with the most significant innovation compared to its predecessor, the iPhone 13 Pro series.

Users may also have been waiting for the presence of the iPhone 14 Pro because of the new things it brings. After one year, Apple brought innovation in the form of a camera with a higher resolution to eliminate the notch.

iPhone lovers may immediately be tempted to upgrade their iPhone 13 Pro to iPhone 14 Pro.

But before buying, it's good to know the comparison of the specifications of the iPhone 13 Pro and the specifications of the iPhone 14 Pro. The following information, compiled from GSM Arena.

Design, Screen and Notch

At a glance, in terms of design, there is no difference between the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro.

The iPhone 14 Pro device still comes with a 6.1-inch screen, thin bezels, and on the back there are three cameras commonly called 'boba' in a position like the iPhone 13 Pro.

However, if you look closely, the iPhone 13 Pro uses rather small bangs. While on the iPhone 14 Pro, Apple has removed the notch and replaced it with a pill-shaped cutout called Dynamic Island.

iPhone 14 Pro Feature

Unlike the notch which is just a place to put the selfie camera and sensors, the Dynamic Notch on the iPhone 14 Pro is an intuitive panel that displays applications running in the background.

If you want to know more, you can read about the Dynamic Island function here.

Regarding the screen, the iPhone 13 Pro uses a Super retina XDR OLED screen with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, HDR10 support, Dolby Vision, and a brightness level of up to 1200 nits.

While the iPhone 14 Pro screen uses an LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED panel, a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, HDR10, Dolby Vision, and a brightness level of up to 2,000 nits.

Both have a 6.1-inch screen size. The difference is that the iPhone 14 Pro has a screen-to-body ratio of 87 percent, while the iPhone 13 Pro has a screen-to-body ratio of 86 percent.

Another difference, the iPhone 14 Pro screen is supported by features that have been on Android, namely Always on Display. iPhone 13 Pro still doesn't have this feature.

iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro are both supported by IP68 water and dust resistance certification.

Software

iPhone 13 Pro when it was released last year came with iOS 15. While the iPhone 14 Pro immediately launched with iOS 16.

However, in the near future the iPhone 13 Pro will also be able to be upgraded to iOS 16 or another new version at a later date. So actually this part is no different.

Chipset and Memory

iPhone 13 Pro already uses the A15 Bionic chipset which is produced with 5nm fabrication.

iPhone 14 Pro on the other hand is updated with a more sophisticated and latest chipset from Apple, namely A16 Bionic with 4nm fabrication.

Problem RAM and memory, the two are no different. iPhone 13 Pro comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB memory options.

Likewise, the iPhone 14 Pro is supported by 6GB of RAM and 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB internal memory options.

Both are not supported external memory slots as is often the case on Android.

Main Camera and Selfie

The difference in the camera is quite significant. The reason is, the iPhone 13 Pro is supported by a 12MP (wide), 12MP (telephoto), and 12MP (ultra-wide) camera with a 120-degree angle.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 Pro comes with a 48MP (wide) camera, a 12MP telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultrawide with a 120-degree angle.

You need to know, the iPhone 14 Pro series is the first iPhone to have a 48MP camera. If on Android, a large camera resolution is certainly not a special thing because it is widely used.

For selfie cameras, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro both use a 12MP resolution lens. The difference is in the aperture, the iPhone 13 Pro uses an aperture of f2.2 and the iPhone 14 Pro uses f1.9.

Connectivity

The iPhone 14 Pro series has been supported by satellite connectivity called Emergency SOS via satellite. Where, in an emergency and there is no signal, the iPhone 14 Pro can still send or receive SMS via a satellite connection.

On the iPhone 13 series, this feature doesn't exist yet.

Another thing about connectivity, in the United States, the iPhone 14 series including the iPhone 14 Pro are sold only with eSIM support.

Meanwhile, for countries that have not implemented eSIM technology, the iPhone 14 Pro will likely still be supported by a SIM card slot.

Battery

Apple never mentions how much power capacity in their iPhone. However, from year to year, the company says that the battery is always being upgraded so that it lasts longer.

Well, the GSM Arena page says, the iPhone 13 Pro battery has a capacity of 3,095 mAh with 23W fast charging support that can be charged 50 percent in 30 minutes. iPhone 13 also supports MagSafe charging.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 is not yet known what its power capacity is, but this page also mentions its fast charging capability that allows charging to 50 percent in 30 minutes.

iPhone 14 also supports charging with MagSafe.

Color Options and Prices

iPhone 13 Pro comes in Graphite, Gold, Silver, Sierra Blue, and Alphine Green color options.

This device in Indonesia is sold starting from IDR 17 million currently on iBox.

While the iPhone 14 Pro comes with Space Black, Silver, Gold, and Deep Purple color options.

This device is priced starting from USD USD 999 (equivalent to Rp. 14.8 million) in the United States. But keep in mind, these prices are prices in the United States, if sold in Indonesia later, of course the price will be adjusted.
